How to Get Started with Clinical Pilates at Therapia

Step 1: Initial 1‑on‑1 Physiotherapy Assessment

To begin Clinical Pilates, you will first complete 1–2 individual sessions with our expert physiotherapist. During these sessions, your physio will:

  • Assess your posture, movement, and strength
  • Discuss injuries, pain, surgery, or medical history
  • Identify your goals
  • Design a personalised exercise program for you

This ensures your Pilates program is safe, effective, and targeted to your needs.

Step 2: Supervised Small Group Studio Sessions

After your assessment, you may be introduced to our Clinical Pilates group sessions in the studio.

  • Maximum 5 people per class
  • Fully supervised by expert physiotherapists
  • Exercises still tailored to each individual
  • Ongoing monitoring and progression

Step 3: Ongoing Reviews to Track Your Progress

To make sure you continue improving, we schedule regular check‑ins:

  • First review after 3-4 weeks (or 8-10 classes) to assess progress and update to intermediate exercisesSecond review around 8-10 weeks (or 15-20 classes) to refine goals and progression to advance exercises 

These reviews help ensure your program evolves with you and continues to support your recovery and performance.

We strongly encourage ongoing participation in Clinical Pilates to maintain results, prevent relapse, and support long‑term health.

Private Health Insurance Rebates

Most private health funds provide rebates for physiotherapist‑led Clinical Pilates when you are using eligible passes.
You can:

  • Purchase your pass upfront
  • Claim rebates once sessions are completed.

We recommend checking your extras cover with your health fund to confirm your eligibility for Pilates. Our billing code is 506, which you can provide to your private health fund when enquiring about your rebate.
