Low back pain affects > 84% of the population on earth …Yes it is a very common condition and successful treatment often requires an integrated approach where Gp’s, Physios and surgeons work together to help people.Mukul Singla and Stefan Jankewicz attended an event hosted by the AOGP with support from Rural Doctors Workforce Association (RDWA) for regional GPs. This is a fantastic program put in place to ensure continuous quality care of clients living in regional towns including Pt Lincoln, Pt Augusta, Yankalilla and many more!! It was fantastic to have such a good turnout of GPs at this event 
At this event, Mukul presented a very interactive session about the assessment and management of lower back pain (LBP).

LBP is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide A detailed subjective assessment considering the mechanism of injury, past history of injury and aggravating activities can help guide toward a more accurate diagnosis/managementThe Mckenzie (back extension) protocol can be a VERY simple yet effective early stage treatment method for Disc-related LBP Educating and Reassuring clients regarding their LBP is crucial – words can have a significant influence on one’s pain state! Early advice to stay active and exercising is much preferred to rest and medication in the management of LBPNeurosurgeon Dr. Chris Tsimiklis had also taken the time out of his day to give a fantastic presentation about endoscopic spine surgery (ESS) – we can’t wait for what’s to come in the future for ESS and Chris’ amazing work! He also made our job explaining lumbar spine anatomy much easier
